Grain Dryer Service Technician

Are you a hands-on problem solver who enjoys working outdoors, tackling technical challenges, and keeping essential systems running smoothly? Horst Systems is looking for a Grain Dryer Service Technician to join our Service team.


In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting Ontario farmers by installing, maintaining, and repairing agricultural grain dryers. Your work ensures safe, efficient drying during harvest, helping our customers protect their crops and livelihood.


Working closely with our Service and Operations teams, you’ll troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and gas systems, complete preventative maintenance, and assist with new equipment installations. Success in this role requires technical aptitude, safety awareness, and a customer-first mindset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform service calls on grain dryers: troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and gas systems
  • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and seasonal tune-ups
  • Complete upgrades, retrofits, and control system updates
  • Assist with new dryer installations and start-ups
  • Support other equipment service and installation projects when needed
  • Maintain accurate service records, track parts, and communicate clearly with customers
  • Follow all health and safety protocols and maintain PPE


What You Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • Experience in agricultural service, HVAC, millwrighting, or electrical work (preferred)
  • Valid G-class driver’s license and ability to travel across Ontario
  • WHMIS 2015 and Working at Heights certifications (training provided if not current)
  • Gas Technician (G2 or G3) certification is an asset but not required
  • Physically fit to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work outdoors year-round
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, teamwork, and customer service mindset
  • Strong willingness to learn the skills needed to become a Grain Dryer Service technician
