The Shelburne Public Library Board is accepting applications for an experienced and visionary leader to fill the role of
Chief Executive Officer (CEO)/Head Librarian. This is a unique opportunity to lead a dynamic and innovative library at the heart of a growing community.
The Opportunity:
As the CEO/Head Librarian, you will be responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and day-to-day management of the Shelburne Public Library. Reporting to the Library Board, you will model and promote innovation, community engagement, and excellence in library services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with the Library Board’s vision and foster a culture of collaboration and innovation.
- Act as the public representative of the Library, building strong relationships with stakeholders, municipalities, and community groups.
- Prepare and oversee the annual budget, ensuring responsible use of public funds and compliance with policies.
- Optimize Library operations to ensure high-quality service delivery and efficiency.
- Manage, mentor, and develop library staff, promoting a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Ensure the Library’s physical space is well-maintained, safe, accessible, and welcoming for all users.
- Oversee renovations, capital planning, and facility-related improvements.
What it Takes to do the Job:
- Post-secondary degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) required.
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a senior library leadership role preferred.
- Strong understanding of public library services, emerging trends, and technologies.
- Proven experience in strategic planning, human resources management, and facility operations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
